Performance Testing
Measure What Matters
Better training starts with better information. At Dirigo Strength & Performance, we use sports science, objective testing, and performance data to identify strengths, uncover opportunities, establish meaningful benchmarks, and guide smarter training decisions.
Whether you’re preparing for a season, trying to improve a specific aspect of performance, returning to full competition, or simply looking for a clearer picture of where you stand, testing gives you a measurable starting point—and a better way to track what comes next.
Stop Guessing. Start Measuring.
Performance is made up of more than one number. Strength, power, speed, movement, reaction, and conditioning all contribute differently depending on the athlete, position, sport, and goal.
Our testing process is designed to look beyond surface-level metrics and build a more complete performance profile. We combine objective measurements with coaching insight to help answer three important questions:
Where are you now?
Where is there opportunity to improve?
Is your training producing the results you want?
The result is data you can actually use—not testing for the sake of testing.
What We Test
-
Measure force production and compare strength across muscle groups and sides of the body to identify strengths, deficits, and asymmetries.
Testing may include:
Lower-extremity strength
Upper-extremity strength
Quadriceps and hamstring testing
Hip strength
Limb-to-limb comparisons
Sport- or position-specific strength measures
-
Evaluate how effectively you produce force quickly—an important component of jumping, sprinting, acceleration, change of direction, and overall athletic performance.
Testing may include:
Countermovement jump
Squat jump
Jump height
Peak force
Rate of force development
Reactive strength
Left-to-right loading characteristics
-
Measure acceleration, top-end speed, and change-of-direction ability using standardized performance tests relevant to your sport and goals.
Testing may include:
Short-distance sprint testing
Acceleration
Change of direction
Agility testing
Position-specific movement
-
Assess how quickly and effectively you respond to visual information and changing demands.
Testing may include:
Reaction time
Hand-eye coordination
Visual-motor response
-
Evaluate how you move through common athletic patterns to identify limitations, asymmetries, or movement strategies that may influence performance.
Testing may include:
Squat and single-leg patterns
Jump and landing mechanics
Balance and stability
Mobility
Sport-specific movement tasks
Applied Sports Science
Testing is only valuable when the information changes what you do next.
We use objective performance data alongside your training history, sport demands, goals, and coaching observations to help guide programming. That may mean prioritizing strength, developing power, improving acceleration, addressing asymmetries, increasing work capacity, or simply confirming that your current training is moving you in the right direction.
Testing allows us to make those decisions with more than intuition alone.
Test. Analyze. Educate. Train. Retest.
Our Technology
-

Force Plates
Measure how you produce and absorb force during jumping and other athletic tasks, providing insight into power, loading strategies, asymmetries, and changes over time.
-

Dynamometry
Objectively measure muscle strength rather than relying solely on subjective strength grading or observation.
-

DynaVision
Assess visual reaction time, coordination, and cognitive-motor performance in a measurable, repeatable format.
-

Speed & Timing Technology
Capture accurate sprint, acceleration, and agility performance to establish objective benchmarks and monitor improvement.
Your Performance Profile
Your results are reviewed in the context of your sport, position, training history, and goals.
Depending on the testing package, your performance profile may include:
Objective test results
Side-to-side comparisons
Strength and power measures
Identified strengths
Areas of opportunity
Training recommendations
Baseline data for future comparison
A single assessment provides a snapshot. Repeated testing shows whether your training is working.
Establishing baseline data allows us to monitor changes over time, evaluate the effectiveness of your program, and adjust training priorities as your needs evolve.
Retesting can be particularly valuable:
Before and after an offseason
During preseason preparation
At key points during a training block
Following a period of targeted development
When transitioning between seasons
When preparing for combines, showcases, or tryouts
The goal is simple: make progress measurable.
Who Is Performance Testing For?
-
Build a clearer understanding of your physical performance and identify the qualities that may have the greatest impact on your next step.
Testing can be customized for:
Youth athletes
High school athletes
Collegiate athletes
Competitive adults
Professional and semi-professional athletes
-
Create objective benchmarks across an entire roster while identifying individual and position-specific needs.
Team testing can help coaches and performance staff:
Establish preseason baselines
Compare position groups
Identify training priorities
Track development
Evaluate offseason progress
Inform team programming
Testing can be performed at Dirigo or incorporated into select on-site team programs.
-
We work with coaches, athletic departments, and school administrators to design testing programs around the specific demands of their athletes and organization.
Programs may include:
Team testing days
Preseason and postseason assessments
Combine-style testing
Position-specific testing
Athlete reports
Group performance summaries
Retesting throughout the year
Integration with strength and conditioning programming
Start With a Free Performance Consult
Our free Performance Consult is the first step in building a smarter plan. During this introductory session, we’ll review your training and injury history, discuss your sport, current routine, and performance goals, and identify the areas where our team can best support you.
From there, we’ll recommend the right next step—whether that’s a focused assessment, comprehensive performance testing, individualized training, or a combination of services.
